IV FLOW RATE CALCULATION
Total Volume of Fluid (ml)×drop factor formula : -
Total time of infusion(minutes) ◆ Drop Factor:- The Drop factor means How many drops will be made in 1ml.
Sets Drop Factor in 1ml
1. BT Set 10 drops/ ml
2. Macro drip set
(Adult) 15 drops/ml
3. Micro Drip set
(Child) 60 drops/ml
Examples
Question:-For the administering 3000 ml of fluid in 24 hours. Then the Flow rate is ?(Given Rate factor is 15)
Solution:- Given,
Volume = 3000 ml Rate, Factor = 15
Time = 24 hours
Total Volume of Fluid(ml)×drop factor
Formula:-
Total time of infusion(minutes)
= 3000×15/24×60
Ans= [31 drops/ minute]
